April Richmond CSI President’s Report
Spring has sprung……or has it?
There are so many things I could list in this report. We have great networking events and learning opportunities for you to take part in. Local Chapter and Regional CSI events this month that you could attend. Please look at the respective websites and calendars for event times and places.
MARC2018, by the time this is published will be history. Our chapter received 3 awards and was well represented. Your President and other officers attended the Mid Atlantic Regional board meeting and were updated on the business and support of the region and The Institute.
Our Annual Product Show is just around the corner! Jon and his committee are working diligently to keep up our tradition of presenting a quality and informative event. Please check our website and watch your email for the schedule of events and learning sessions available.
As my time as President winds down, I feel that we as a chapter have changed; grew in membership and stature in our local specification community. We are a vibrant and growing chapter, in much better shape than most of our peers.
Keep up the great work, and as a team, we can all succeed!
Thanks for all you do!

April Project Spotlight
Glavé & Holmes Architecture
Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia
Washington and Lee University’s front campus was designated a National Historic District in 1973, described by the Interior as “one of the most dignified and beautiful college campuses in the nation”. In the center stands the Colonnade, comprised of the five most iconic buildings in the historic district: Washington, Payne, Robinson, Newcomb, and Tucker Halls. The phased rehabilitation of the building spanned eight years.
The Colonnade is deeply revered, making any change sensitive. However, restoring its vitality was paramount to the University: code deficiencies, inefficient infrastructure, and worn interiors reflected decades of use. Offices were inadequate, spaces for interaction were sparse, technology was an afterthought, and there weren’t even bathrooms on the third floors. Understanding the beloved nature of the buildings, the University established lofty goals for this undertaking.
